Ten years after a traumatic rape in high school, a woman makes a new friend, but their relationship triggers old memories and issues.

Maddie is in a therapy session with her therapist, Morgan. Maddie is reluctant to talk about her past and the issues Morgan wants to talk about. Maddie talks about her new job as a tutor for a wealthy family, where she meets and becomes friends with the family nanny, Laurel. In a series of flashbacks, we learn that Maddie was raped in high school at a party, but no one believed her when she reported it, resulting in her rapist going unpunished, and her becoming a social outcast, crushing her dreams. Laurel and Maddie bond over this and develop a strong friendship. Maddie’s long-time friends, Paige and James at first welcome Laurel and are happy that Maddie has made a new friend. Slowly, the relationship between Maddie and Laurel starts to become unhealthy and toxic. Paige and James worry Laurel may have alternative motives and try to protect Maddie. Maddie is forced to decide between who she trusts more, Laurel or Paige and James.
